Having your vehicle break down is always stressful. You must contend with a major inconvenience, and potentially spend hundreds of dollars on vehicle repairs. There are essential tools that every car owner should keep in their vehicle in case of a breakdown. These tools should be part of every car’s emergency tool kit because they could save your life. If your car is disabled on the side of the road, give Catlett’s Service Center & Towing a call. Our technicians will respond to local tow calls within 30 minutes, and we can provide all mechanical services at our shop located in Davidsonville.

Emergency Tool Kit

Your local climate will dictate exactly which tools you should keep on hand. Someone living in a cold climate will need emergency gear for winter weather, while someone in a hot climate will have different needs. The following emergency tools should be standard for all car owners:

  • Jumper Cables

Dead batteries can happen to anyone at any time. The only way to guarantee that you will not soon have a dead battery is to bring your vehicle into Catlett’s Service Center & Towing. We can check your battery to determine how much life is left in it so you do not have any surprises happen.

When stranded in a parking lot due to a dead battery, anyone can give you a jump if you have jumper cables. We recommend the longer jumper cables to make it easier to reach your helper’s vehicle.

  • Window Breaker / Seatbelt Cutter

In the event of an accident, your seat belt may be stuck. You must have a way to break free of your seatbelt and exit through your window during an emergency.

  • First Aid Kit

Although you hope that you do not need to use one, it is essential to have a first aid kit on hand. Band-aids, sterile gauze, and alcohol wipes should be the basic components in your first aid kit.

  • Duct Tape

Between duct tape and WD-40, most problems can be temporarily fixed. Duct tape is helpful in a vehicle for short-term fixes to get you to our shop.

Catlett’s Service Center & Towing is here to help if your vehicle needs repair. Our service technicians can either tow your vehicle into your shop, or you can call to schedule an appointment at 410-798-5446.
