Most of us are tempted to turn the radio up when the car starts making a strange sound. However, ignoring a problem does not make it go away. In fact, what begins as a minor issue could quickly compound into a catastrophic failure in your car. If your vehicle starts making any of these 6 noises, you should immediately bring it into Catlett’s Service Center & Towing for a diagnostic test.
Clicking Sound When Making a Turn
If you hear a clicking sound when making a turn, you may be dealing with worn CV joints. The clicking noise will only occur while turning and never when driving straight. CV joints provide lube to the front axles. When the CV joint breaks down, it no longer provides an adequate amount of lube to the front axles. If you delay repairing this part, you should prepare for a complete axle replacement.
Ticking Noise While Stopped
Although there are several reasons for ticking noises while idling, the most common cause is running low on oil. If you hear a ticking noise and it has been over 3,000 miles (or 3 months) since your last oil change, bring it into Catlett’s Service Center & Towing. Delaying an oil change will cause permanent engine damage.
Thudding Noise While Driving
If you hear a thudding noise that increases the more you accelerate, you most likely have a low or flat tire. Tires do not have to be flat to cause damage to your vehicle. Driving on a vehicle with low tire pressure is enough to cause damage to the rims. A tire without enough air pressure could also damage the car’s alignment.
